What to expect

Comfort and stability. Fat tires and a wide seat make the Peak steady and comfortable at moderate speeds, and it handles grass, gravel and rough paths better than a narrow-wheeled commuter.

Range. A 375 Wh battery advertised at 25 miles will usually give closer to 15 to 18 miles for an average adult on mixed terrain. Fat tires add rolling resistance, so riding on soft ground cuts range further.

Size and weight. This is closer to a mini e-bike or moped than a folding scooter. It needs garage space and isn’t practical to carry.

Rules. A 20 mph seated vehicle may be classed differently from a stand-up scooter where you live. Check local scooter and e-bike rules before riding on roads.

Advantages

  • Comfortable wide seat and upright position
  • Fat tires for grass, gravel and rough paths
  • Dual disc brakes
  • Large basket
  • 300 lb rider limit (listing)

Limitations

  • Versions are easy to mix up
  • Heavy and bulky; not for carrying
  • Advertised range is optimistic
  • May be classed as a moped or e-bike in some areas

Who should buy it

The Peak suits riders who want a relaxed, seated ride for errands, campgrounds, neighborhoods and paths, especially larger riders and anyone who finds stand-up scooters tiring. Commuters who need to fold their scooter onto a train or carry it upstairs should look at a folding model instead.
